You’re engaged, congratulations! Now it’s time to plan, plan, plan. Something you may not have started thinking about is how to achieve that goal to be a bit healthier, a bit fitter or lose a few pounds (or put them on!) before the big day. But if you want to do it in a healthy way and for the long term, now’s the time to get a plan in place.

- Decide on a realistic goal for your day
It may seem obvious but make sure you pick a goal that is achievable and which can be reached a few weeks before the wedding day; you want to make sure that final dress fitting is right!
- Pick an event to take part in
Choosing a 5k or 10k run, a tough mudder, or even a skate-a-thon to do before the wedding gives you something to train for. Make sure it is a good month before your wedding though – you don’t want bruises or blisters just before your wedding day!
- Take a look at your diet
If you are looking to lose weight or look healthier your diet will be a major contributing factor; as the saying goes ‘a six-pack is found in the kitchen’. Weddings usually take a while to plan, so you should have time to make changes to your diet that are long-term changes for the better and will lead to healthy, sustainable weight loss/gain. This is much better for you than taking up a fad diet and then finding yourself knee deep in chocolate wrappers two weeks later and back to square one, or worse!
- Get your partner, bridesmaids, or even the bride’s mother involved!
Teaming up with someone or forming a small group can help you stick at it through the tough stages when you want to give in, and will also make training more fun. Partner exercises are a great way to add fun and value to your routine – it usually helps if you are a similar size though!
- Work on your posture
You can look and feel better in moments; just standing correctly can take an inch off your waist and make you taller! Good posture exudes confidence to others, and by embodying correct posture you actually start to feel that confidence too, making you feel great, without even lifting a finger!
